01 — Privacy Policy
Your Data Stays on Your Device
Any document you import into ReadKinetic — whether an EPUB, PDF, plain text file, or pasted content — is processed exclusively within your web browser using local JavaScript APIs. At no point does the content of your files transit our servers, get stored in a cloud database, or become accessible to us or any third party.
This is an architectural fact, not a policy promise. ReadKinetic has no server-side ingestion pipeline. There is nowhere for your documents to go.

Local Storage
ReadKinetic stores your library metadata, reading progress, bookmarks, and application settings in your browser's IndexedDB — a local database that lives on your device. Nothing in IndexedDB is shared with or accessible by us.
You can inspect, export, or delete this data at any time through your browser's developer tools (Application → Storage → IndexedDB → readkinetic). Clearing your browser's site data for readkinetic.com will permanently and irrevocably remove all stored data, including your entire library index. We have no copy and cannot recover it for you.
If you install ReadKinetic as a Progressive Web App (PWA), your data persists in the same on-device store and is subject to the same conditions.

Analytics & Performance
To understand how the application is used and to diagnose technical issues, we employ Vercel Analytics. Vercel Analytics collects anonymised, aggregated signals such as page views, general geographic region (country-level), device type, and runtime errors. It does not set tracking cookies, does not fingerprint individual users, and does not build behavioural profiles.
The data we receive through Vercel tells us things like "the saccades article was read 400 times this week, mostly on mobile, and there were no console errors." It does not tell us who you are, what you read, or how long you spent on a given book.

Monetisation & Affiliates
ReadKinetic is free. To sustain it, we participate in affiliate programmes — primarily the Audible Associates Programme and similar book-adjacent services. When you click an affiliate link displayed within the app or on this site and subsequently make a purchase, we may receive a commission. The price you pay is not affected.
We may also display third-party advertisements through networks that use cookies and device identifiers to serve contextually or behaviourally targeted content. These networks operate under their own privacy policies. If behavioural advertising is a concern, most major browsers allow you to limit cross-site tracking in Settings → Privacy, and tools like uBlock Origin will suppress these requests at the network level.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any data we hold about your usage to advertising networks or data brokers. The analytics data described in Section 3 is not shared with or sold to any third party for commercial purposes.

Third-Party Services
ReadKinetic's infrastructure relies on the following third parties, each with their own applicable data practices:
Vercel — hosting, edge delivery, and anonymised analytics. Lemon Squeezy — payment processing for any future paid features. If you complete a transaction, Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs the data you provide during checkout. We receive only a confirmation of the transaction.
Fonts are self-hosted on our own domain — no requests are made to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service, so your IP address is never exposed to them for font delivery.

Your Rights
Because we do not hold personal data about you beyond anonymised aggregate analytics, the practical exercise of data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) is largely self-service: your data is on your device, under your control.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are located in California, the CCPA grants you rights over personal information held by businesses. Because we do not sell personal information and do not hold identifiable user data in our systems, most of these rights are satisfied by the architecture of the product itself.

Children
ReadKinetic is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the service in a way that has resulted in personal data being collected, contact us and we will investigate and delete any such data we can identify.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes — meaning changes that expand the categories of data we collect or the purposes for which it is used — will be flagged with a notice on the home page for at least 30 days.

01 — Terms of Use
Use of the Service
ReadKinetic is provided "as is" and "as available" for personal, non-commercial use. By accessing readkinetic.com or using the ReadKinetic application, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You may use ReadKinetic for personal reading, research, education, or other lawful purposes. You may not use the service to process content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others, to circumvent digital rights management systems, or for any purpose prohibited by applicable law.

Your Content
You are solely responsible for the documents, files, and text you import into ReadKinetic. You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to access and process those materials — whether by ownership, licence, or fair use — and that doing so does not violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
Because your content is processed locally and never transmitted to us, we do not review, moderate, or retain it. We cannot and do not grant or revoke rights to content you access through the application.

Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ReadKinetic and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of reading progress, or any interruption of service.
Because your library is stored locally in your browser, we are not responsible for data loss resulting from clearing browser data, reinstalling your operating system, hardware failure, browser updates, or any other event that affects local storage. We strongly recommend exporting your library periodically as a backup.
In jurisdictions that do not permit the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

External Links & Advertisements
ReadKinetic may display affiliate links or third-party advertisements. These links and advertisements are clearly third-party content. We do not endorse, guarantee, or accept responsibility for the products, services, or content of external websites, regardless of whether a commercial relationship exists between us and the linked entity.
When you leave ReadKinetic by clicking an external link, you are subject to the terms and privacy practices of the destination site. We encourage you to review those policies before sharing personal information with any third party.

Intellectual Property
The ReadKinetic application, including its source code, user interface, branding, logo, and written content on readkinetic.com, is the intellectual property of ReadKinetic and its operators. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the service without express written permission.
Nothing in these terms grants you a licence to the underlying software beyond the right to use the hosted application for personal reading as described in Section 1.

Termination
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to ReadKinetic at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to suspected violations of these terms or applicable law. Because the application is client-side and your data is local, termination of access to the hosted service does not affect data already stored on your device.

Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

Modifications
We reserve the right to update these terms or modify the functionality of ReadKinetic at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If a change is material, we will update the effective date and, where feasible, publish a notice on the site.
